Since 2003, the conference has grown significantly in terms of quality and variety of the technical programs - it is recognized as a top tier conference by most universities and organizations across the world.
PerCom 2010 will provide a high profile, leading edge forum for researchers and engineers alike to present state-of-the-art research in the respective fields of pervasive computing and communications. The conference will feature a diverse mixture of presentation forums including core technical sessions, several targeted workshops, demonstrations, keynote speeches and panel discussions from domain experts. Recently introduced events such as the Work-in-Progress session and the PhD Forum are already high quality events with a very competitive acceptance process.
The conference will take place in Mannheim, Germany. The region has the earliest spring in Germany and is located in the beautiful Rhine valley. Mannheim is reachable easily by train or car, being located 30 minuted south of Frankfurt International Airport. Sights nearby Mannheim are Heidelberg with a wonderful city center and the famous "Schloss", the Whine regions of Bergstraße, Pfalz and Rheingau. The conference itself will take place in the Mannheim palace which has been renovated recently and provides not only the flair of a baroque palace but also lecture halls with modern presentation equipment. The city of Mannheim is organized around the palace. Thus hotels, public transportation, hotels and shopping is in walking distance to the conference venue.
The conference best paper is awarded with the Mark Weiser Best Paper award, sponsored by Elsevier Pervasive and Mobile Computing Journal. This is the most prestigious annual research paper award given in pervasive computing. The highest quality papers from PerCom are published in a special issue of the Pervasive and Mobile Computing Journal.
