7, Feb, 2013

The Inaugural Symposium "Carnegie Mellon Portugal: An Entrepreneurial University-Industry Ecosystem in ICT", which took place in IST, Lisbon, included the presence of CISTER. In this event, CISTER researchers, Eduardo Tovar, Nuno Pereira e Bruno Saraiva, presented the project entitled Sustainable ENergy-Optimized Datacenters (SENODs), funded by the Carnegie Mellon – Portugal program.

The Carnegie Mellon – Portugal Program is a research/educational partnership with the Carnegie Mellon University and several top-rated Portuguese research institutions, which involves professors, researchers and students. After five years of intense collaboration (Phase I), the Program is expected to enter a new period (Phase 2), aimed at consolidating, extending, and reaping the full benefit of the investment made in Phase 1 and leveraging the innovation capacity of the Carnegie Mellon Portugal knowledge network for Portugal to affirm and increase its competitive advantages internationally.

The week before, and also related to this program, CISTER researcher, Eduardo Tovar, held meetings in Pittsburgh with various CMU and SEI regarding the ongoing collaborations on the dual PhD programs and on the SENODs project. Prospective ideas for the future were also discussed.
